Itineraries
DAY 01:
SALTA / CITY TOUR / PEÑA
Arrival at Salta airport and transfer to hotel. In the afternoon, City Tour in Salta and its outskirts. At night, we will go to a “Peña” (folk party).
DAY 02:
SALTA / CACHI
After breakfast, we will depart from Salta city to Valle de Lerma, we will cross the Cuesta del Obispo from where it is possible to enjoy a panoramic view of the Valle Encantado. Soon Los Cardones National Park is crossed by the Recta del Tin – Tin (Straight line of Tin-Tin, ancient Inca´s road). Arriving to Cachi, a panoramic view of the Nevado de Cachi and Payogasta is observed. We will go to the town of Cachi where we will visit the Archaeological Museum and the Church. Overnight in Cachi.
DAY 03:
CACHI / MOLINOS / CAFAYATE
After breakfast, we will continue the trip down by Route 40 to admire mountainous landscapes with towns of great enchantment. Bordering the Calchaquí River, we will observe historical towns such as Seclantàs, Molinos, Angastaco, San Carlos and Animaná. In the afternoon, we will arrive to Cafayate, where we spend the night. Overnight in Cafayate.
DAY 04:
CAFAYATE / RUINAS DE QUILMES/SALTA
After breakfast, we will continue our trip, we will visit some wineries and will continue to Tucumán province, where we will visit the “Quilmes Ruins” and their museum. After lunch, we will return to Salta city through the “Quebrada de las Conchas” and the “Valle de Lerma”. Overnight in Salta.
DAY 05:
SALTA/SAN ANTONIO DE LOS COBRES / SALINAS GRANDES / TILCARA
Departure from Salta city towards the Tastil Ruins. Then, we will arrive to San Antonio de los Cobres, after we will stop for lunch and a short visit to the town. We will continue our trip along Route 40 crossing one of the most desertic areas of the Argentina. Soon, and already in the province of Jujuy, we will arrive to Salinas Grandes (The Great Salt Flat), where the inmensity of the area is magnific. We will continue by “Cuesta del Lipan” until arriving to Purmamarca, one of the typical towns of Quebrada de Humahuaca (Humahuaca Gorge) with its “Cerro de 7 Colores” (Seven Colors Hill) and the enchantment of the small houses., continue until Tilcara, lodging. Overnight in Tilcara.
DAY 06:
QUEBRADA DE HUMAHUACA
Breakfast and departure to visit the Pucará (ancient ruins), the Archaeological Museum, and Huacalera, and then we will cross the “Tròpico de Capricornio” (Capricorn Tropic), from where the colors of “La Pollera de la Coya Hill”. We will visit Uquía and its church, where the paintings of the “Arcabucero Angels” (important vestige in the zone of the Cuzqueña School) are kept. Arrival to Humahuaca town at noon. This town has an important Church and the Independence Monument (the Cacique Viltipoco). After lunch, we will return and we will observe “La Paleta del Pintor” (Painter’s Palette) framing the town of Maimarà. We will continue to San Salvador de Jujuy where we will visit the Flag Hall and the Cathedral. Finally, we will return to Salta. Overnight in Salta.
DAY 07:
SALTA / BUENOS AIRES
After breakfast, transfer to Salta airport to return to Buenos Aires.
