About

A journey from Salta to the picturesque town of Cachi, traveling through some of the most spectacular landscapes of the province.
We depart from Salta and travel through the Lerma Valley towards Chicoana, where we begin the ascent along the impressive Cuesta del Obispo. The winding mountain road offers beautiful views of the surrounding valleys and mountains.
We continue through Los Cardones National Park, a protected natural area known for its extensive cactus forests and high-altitude landscapes. Along the way, we cross the famous Recta del Tin Tin, an almost perfectly straight section of road built over an ancient Inca trail.
We then reach Payogasta and continue towards Cachi, a charming town located in the Calchaquí Valley, surrounded by mountains and traditional adobe architecture. There is time to explore its historic center, visit the Cachi Church and discover the local history and culture.

Recommendations

Comfortable footwear, warm clothing, sunscreen, a hat or cap, sunglasses, and plenty of water are recommended. Due to the altitude, it is advisable to stay well hydrated, walk slowly, and avoid strenuous physical activity. A camera or cell phone with sufficient battery is highly recommended to capture the spectacular landscapes along the route.
