About

A historical tour through the most important sites connected with the Battle of Salta, one of the key episodes in Argentina’s struggle for independence.
The tour begins in the historic Portezuelo area, the only entrance to the city during colonial times and an important strategic point during the wars of independence. From there, we continue towards Chachapoyas, following the paths used by the patriot forces before the battle.
We then visit Finca Castañares and its museum, where General Manuel Belgrano planned the movements of his army before the Battle of Salta. The tour continues to Lomas de Medeiros, a site associated with Martina Silva de Gurruchaga and the participation of local women in the patriotic cause.
We then descend towards the city center to visit the monument commemorating those who took part in the Battle of February 20, 1813.
The tour ends at Nuestra Señora de la Merced Church, a unique example of Neo-Gothic architecture, where the original historic cross from the Battle of Salta is preserved.
