About

The excursion crosses the Quebrada de Humahuaca before ascending towards the Puna region and reaching the historic town of Yavi, one of the most important settlements in northern Argentina.

There, we visit its church, renowned for its gold-leaf-covered altar, the House of the Marquess of Tojo, the Hydraulic Mill, and the main points of the historic town center.

We then explore the town and ascend to the formation known as Los 8 Hermanos, from where we access Laguna Colorada, a unique natural landscape in the Jujuy Puna.

On the return, we visit the city of La Quiaca, the northernmost border city in Argentina, and cross the international bridge on foot to Villazón, allowing us to enjoy a direct view of the Bolivian city of the same name.

Maximum altitude: 3,600 meters above sea level.

Departure: 9:00 a.m. – Return: 7:00 p.m.

Recommendations

Warm clothing is recommended, as the weather in the Puna can be cold, along with water, sunscreen, a hat, and comfortable footwear. An identity document is required to cross the international bridge into Villazón. Due to the altitude of 3,600 meters above sea level, it is advisable to stay well hydrated, walk slowly, and avoid strenuous activities. Bringing a camera or cell phone is ideal, as Yavi and its surroundings feature a unique historical and scenic heritage.
